( Chinese text)
As the hot Taipei summer heat increases, and end of term exam pressure become heavier,
my head gets hot and dizzy and I look for my best friend (Yang Mei-Yu, Gina).
We escape the stifling atmosphere to a tea-shop and over a glass of ice tea,
make plans to find the coolness of a mountain waterfall, where we go to
dream dreams, and wash the tiredness out of our minds.
These moments of escape, discovering the delicate texture of a mountain fern,
or laughing at the clumsy flight of a large black and white beetle, become
locked in my memory as precious jewels.
It is the jewels carved and polished by the hardships of life which make
memories of the past pleasant to go back to, and give us strength to face the
hardships of the future.
